Loy Krathong & Yi Peng

Loy Krathong and Yi Peng are two of Thailand’s most beautiful festivals, often celebrated together on the full moon in November. In Pai, this time of year feels especially magical — with candlelit rivers, floating krathongs, and lanterns rising into the night sky.

Makha Bucha Day

Makha Bucha is an important Buddhist holiday in Thailand, observed on the full moon of the third lunar month. It commemorates a gathering where 1,250 of the Buddha’s disciples came together spontaneously to hear his teachings — a moment of unity, reflection, and devotion.
In Pai, Makha Bucha is marked by a calm and respectful atmosphere. Locals visit temples to make merit, offer food to monks, and participate in candlelight processions (wian thian) around the temple grounds after sunset.
